Institute of Digital Games and Mighty Boards are demonstrating a very creative way to create social justice. In this event, discover how to see the world from a different perspective by playing games. Games are great fun, but they are also important cultural artefacts. They tell us a lot about the cultures that played them. And like movies and books they also communicate ideas and influence the attitudes of the players. Think about the rewards for having children in the game ‘Life’ or the rewards for purchasing property in ‘Monopoly’.

In this workshop Mighty Boards and the Institute of Digital Games, run through how game mechanics impact the ‘message’ of the game and you will get a chance to change some game mechanics to see what happens. Starting with an overview of the process from prototype to final version of a successful Mighty Board game, you will then get a chance to experiment with your own game prototypes.
