Science in the City

European Researchers’ Night

Science in the City is part of the EU-wide event: ‘European Researchers’ Night’, which aims to communicate scientific research. The ‘European Researchers Night’ promotes this research within Europe and globally and aspires to bridge the gap between scientists and the public. It is important to communicate research and innovation to the general public and present the role that research has in everyone’s daily lives in order to encourage informed decision making and advocate for positive change. The ERN also aims to inspire the next generation of researchers and show that science is a fun and exciting career to enter into.

This event takes place in over 30 countries and 300 cities simultaneously, and Malta’s proposal always ranks highly amongst over 100 applicants. ‘European Researchers Night’ brings research closer to the public. Uniting universities, research institutions and organisations across Europe to celebrate science.

With the participation of several countries, the ERN offers a platform to share knowledge and present cutting-edge research. Beyond the main event, our commitment extends to schools, engaging students and educators to promote scientific curiosity and exploration. Our partners include University of Split (Croatia), Start Talking About Research Today START (Ireland), SHARPER (Italy), EXPLORATHON (Scotland), INTERSECTIONS (England) and ForskarFredag FF2022_23 (Sweden).
