About this Event

Welcome one and all to Day 2 of Science in the City 2020, Malta’s science and arts festival. Day 2 of our 3-day Live Virtual Festival was jam-packed, filled with quizzes, theatre performances, games and live laser experiments!

We had fantastic performing art pieces in Feedback Loops, looking at how wearable devices can help to monitor and track depression, and Jumping Genes, exploring the challenges faced by Women in STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) careers. Inspired by the COVID-19 pandemic, 0.0031% took you on a journey into the future where the very concept of humanity has been modified beyond recognition and Be the Change tackling the issue of water conservation here in Malta.

If you are interested in the natural world and the environment then make sure you look out for the great activities we had in Save the Turtles and Birds of a Feather by Nature Trust and BirdLife Malta. We also had another brilliant performance in Like Now and Then highlighting the environment in Malta.

Throughout the day we had lots of fun interactive games and activities for you to enjoy right from the comfort of your home, look out for Picture This, Building with Science, Show & Tell, Engineer It! and Dig em’ Up! From linguistics to computing, from climate change to archaeology you really won’t be disappointed.

We had a science show by Esplora in Our Body Under Siege and a tour around a seismology lab that studies earthquakes in Shake It Up Lab Tour. The University of Malta’s Department of Physics were showing a live laser experiment in Focus on Lasers: Live Experiment. How about watching students from the Faculty of ICT deliver a very exciting pitch in ICT Shark Tank.

You could finish off by witnessing an explosive cocktail in Mixology, researchers’ paired with spirits, who knows what will be discussed!
