Description : A fun, family show reflecting the voice of the community, especially the children, of Valletta through a theatre production telling an engaging story. Through a year long process of workshops, audit and presentations, the Valletta community is not simply being used as a backdrop for the next artistic endeavour or artistic event but is vocalising their concerns to resonate with the general public, in an attempt to empower and strengthen their position in society, by means of this artistic process.
Throughout, Vuċijiet Beltin has brought together local and foreign artists and creative practitioners to work with members of the Valletta Community (Valletta Primary School and St Dominic Theatre Group) to create a theatrical production to challenge and provide opportunities for critical thinking and engagement.
The project has worked with multiple stakeholders including EkoSkola, the Commissioner for Children, the Faculty of Built Environment, Faculty of Science and Faculty of ICT. Through a series of workshops, meetings, and activities, the artists, researchers and the Valletta Community challenged assumptions about the other, as well as what city life is so that together all involved imagined a solution through the safety provided by theatre and festival alike.
